State of the Nation June 5, 2013 very very Long post!

Long time no post, I am well aware and apologise. Things have been quite chaotic here at Mutanthouse but we are working though it. Our financial situation is not the best but it has improved I (Alex) finally received my school funding and Tim has been getting more hours at work. All in all we are only 5 days late on the Mortgage and more money is coming in July which will bring us current.

All in all the past few months have been a challenge My health has been more than wonky, some of our furries had medical emergencies, and we had to take in new residents and some refugees. Once again we had to fight the false allegations of our nemesis across the street( the retched guardian of Poor Axel who we tried to save earlier this year) who has been calling the city and animal control on us claiming anything from that we are collecting trash behind the house to fighting our dogs. We are well aware it is retaliation for making his abuse and neglect of poor Axel Public and while the constant visitations from the law are frustrating they are also unfounded so there are no real consequences just annoyance. We can live with that, and do not regret trying to save his dog nor holding him accountable for his death!

New residents

cats and Kittehs:

In the past few Months we have taken in two more pooches in need and three more kittehs.
The first to Move in was little Oliver a male tuxedo cat who sat in front of Kay and Timโ€™s door and proclaimed he was moving in. Then there was little Sebastian who Kay found in the Wal-Mart parking lot and the last of the Kittehs to join was Bastet Delilah who like Oliver sat in front of the door for 3 days till we decided that one more wonโ€™t kill us. but someone in the cat underworld must be giving out our address because they keep shoeing up ๐Ÿ˜›

The ballad of Little Captain Jack Sparrow and Titine Atari Starfire Empress of Bahuahua:

This part is both sad and happy so brace yourselves. My daughter called me for help she had been trying to help a little boy puppy that was very ill and dying because his guardians forced him baby food when he had become too weak to suckle. The house the poor Pup lived in was a pestilent hell hole full of faeces and cockroaches. The people living there had 5 dogs, two males and 3 females, who all had puppies because those ignorant idiots refused to have all but one of their dogs spayed and neutered. All the puppies where flea and worm ridden and smelled so bad I almost vomited. From the first littler only one little eight week old female was left over. Overall she seemed to be in Ok shape although her belly was grossly extended due to parasite infestation. The second litter, to which the little male puppy belonged, were all four weeks old. All of them where under weight and parasite ridden but the little male was by far the worst off. I (Alex) decided to take him to our vet and whilst driving decided that he was not going to go back there if he would survive. We noticed that the little guy had only one eye and taking that for inspiration we named him Captain Jack Sparrow hoping that the Pirateโ€™s luck in dodging death would rub off on the little guy. It seemed for a little while that he would make it but in the end the worm infestation was too severe and we lost him. I was devastated because he had fought so hard to live. We took Jack home and buried him under our Chinese plum. Although you where just with us for a few hours we love you little jack may you sail the sea of souls happily till we meet again I salute you <3.

cj

We went back to the house of horror to update his former family and to deworm the remaining puppies. I also brought a shot for the little girl because her guardian said that she would not afford to give her her shots when I explained how dangerous Parvo was the woman told me she had had a previous littler that had died from it in the house. Yet she was giving me attitude and was not willing to let the puppy get her shots. 50$ later the pup was mine and we named her Titine Atari Starfire. In two weeks we will be deworming the remaining pups of horror house and will try to find them homes if possible . We are not sure how far these people will let us help though because they waver between threats and greed.

Meet Titine :

Titine

The Little girl has recovered well from her worm infestation and is growing like a weed. Titine is very popular of course Momma Moo has taken her under her wing and is (S)mothering her ๐Ÿ˜‰ Wifi is completely in love with her and engages in long howl sessions. And she loves Her auntie Kay and Uncle Tim.

Wifi the magnificent:

As you can see in the Picture Our WiFi has grown up to be a strong young man. His problems with gait and running have vanished and he recovered well from his operation. In July he will be undergoing “the Procedure”. We will keep you updated. Our WiFi is very dramatic in nature and very vocal which got him the nick name Dennis Rodman of dogs :p We believe that if he where not a Dog he would be a drag queen with his own show in Hollywood. His favorite pastimes are eating, which is the reason of one of his other nicknames chubby or Chubbo. His best friends are Bhaaloo and Malcolm who he adores and little Titine is the apple of his eye.

Amyrah the Survivour:

Another success story is our Amyrah remember the little shy girl who was afraid of her own shadow well now she is a happy well adjusted girl who is part of the young pack. We are so happy she has found her way out of her shell ๐Ÿ˜€

Refugees2

We have taken in some refugees at Mutanthouse My daughter Morgaine and her fiance Franky were evicted from their home. We decided to let them stay here with my grand furries Misty, Molly,Roy,Tequila and Garfield until things get better. because they are not vegans ands also are not currently interested in becoming part of the project there status here is defined as refugees ๐Ÿ˜‰

The amazing Grand Furries:

The garden:

This years garden is very simple no raised beds no real structure but it is a garden and out first step into that venture, We have tomatoes, bell peppers, peppers, watermelons and squash. We have 2 fig trees , 2 banana trees and one pair tree. Our boison berries yelded great this year and we are expanding ๐Ÿ™‚

As for myself My health has not been the best so I am trying to go completely raw vegan and want to see if I cannot fix my situation or at least massively improve it.One thing I am planning is to get a membership at the local YCWA so I can go swimming and get some exercise. Tim and I found a Farmers market and a family of farmers who are cutting us great deals so suddenly Raw seems achievable. ย I will be documenting my progress on on a Facebook page called Reclaiming Life >

State Of The Nation/Mutanthouse Update 2

Dear friends and supporters the Last month has been quite a ride. As you know we took in three new dogs. Kay and Tim took in Amyrah and I (Alex) took in Bhaaloo from the backyard breeder and dogfighter who lived next to us and thankfully got arrested, and little WiFi was rescued from a drug dealer Bhaaloo and Amyrah both have severe behaviour issues that we are working to resolve. Wifi is just a bundle of Joy!

(Amyrah)

Amyrah is beyond shy and terrified of men because her previous guardian beat his dogs. Kay has been working with her daily and it is slowly paying off. The little girl is coming out of her shell and now sometimes finds the courage to cuddle with her new dad Tim. We had a health scare with her thinking she might have distemper but it thankfully turned out to be a cold. Once again we faced a whopping vet bill but received help from donors (thank you so much) who cut it in half and our vet forfeited his own fee which made it doable considering it came out of Alex dwindling funds.

(Amyrah , with Kay and doctor Sink )

Our girl is now on antibiotics for her repertory infection, ointment for a rash on her flankand Benadryl for her allergies. She tested negative for heartworm which made us very happy; and we now have her on heartworm preventative to ensure it stays that way. We have a heartworm epidemic here in high point and we are not willing to take any risks. She is going to be spayed next week. Once again we would like to say thank you to all that have helped and supported us with this little lass ๐Ÿ˜€

(Bhaaloo)

Bhaaloo is friendly and outgoing but he is beyond hyperactive and very mouthy. His previous guardian was grooming him to fight so biting was encouraged. He needs a lot of attention and exercise because his enthusiasm has turned into aggression twice and we need to nip this behaviour in the bud. Our Zoe is a great help with that because they have become a natural match as you have seen in our videos.

(Zoe and Bhaaloo -one day my muddy prince will come ๐Ÿ˜› Bhaaloo rolled in some unmentionable stuff but Zoe loves his new cologne ๐Ÿ˜› )

The two love each other and Zoe who is loved by everyone who meets her (both animal and human) has the tendency to bring Bhaalooโ€™s best nature out of him.

(Zoe and Bhaaloo)

Still Bhaaloo needs more attention than I can do alone so Tim has been running him which seems to work really well. Eventually we want to get him on the treadmill because this boy make the energiser bunny look like a 80 year old couch potato ๐Ÿ˜› Bhaaloo will need to go to the vet next month to be tested for heartworms if you want to help with his next vet bill or donate to our general veterinary fund here is the link >

http://mutanthouseproject.chipin.com/mutanthouse-veterinary-fund

Every penny is appreciated My (Alex) funds run out this month and I will not have anything until I find employment. With Kayโ€™s health issues Tim is currently the only one working so we need all the help we can get.

(Wifi)

So now to little Wifi ๐Ÿ˜€
He is doing great growing like a weed. His injuries are fully healed and he is all round doing amazing. He got his second set of shots yesterday, and his first heartworm prevention pill.

Wifi is now 12 weeks old and 15 pounds heavy ๐Ÿ™‚ He is such a blessing to have, very smart, calm in nature and very attentive. We think he might be a perfect candidate for a therapy dog if his temperament and demeanour remain the same. With my (Alex) MS he could eventually very well turn the tables and become the caregiver, if my condition worsens. We are also thinking of doing a sick child and elderly visitation program with him once he is grown and if he graduates from training ๐Ÿ™‚ Since parvo is so prevalent in High point and the strains here so viciously deadly poor Wifi has not been out to play yet. Once he completes his last set of shots around January 1st we can wait to introduce him to the back yard. We think that Zoe and Moo will be the first to be allowed to play with him outside. Moo being his doggy foster mother will watch over him and Zoe is always up to playing when others are no fun ๐Ÿ™‚

You guys might remember Siegfried and Roy. Roy was adopted into my (Alex) daughters house hold and is doing really well. Siggy had no such luck. He is a wonderful dog with People and submissive female dogs, but he fights everyone else. This is why we were unable to integrate hum in any of our three packs. We thought we had found a furever home with one of our friends and supporters T-ray from Atlanta. But unforeseen issues made it impossible for her to take him and the poor pooch has nowhere to go ๐Ÿ˜ฆ He deserves so much better than living isolated and alone so we are looking for a furever home for him or foster. He is a wonderful dog and as I said earlier he loves people but has issues with other dogs and cats. So it would be best that he find a home where he is the only pet. He is approximately 1.5 years old Neutered and up-to-date on his rabies. He needs a person who can devote a lot of time and energy to him, he is active and playful. If you are interested or can help please let us know.

Amyrah needs your help

As many of you know Kay and Alex saved two dogs from the dog fighting scum who lived next door and then got arrested. Alex took in Bhaaloo and Kay took in little momma, who we renamed Amyrah.

Both Pooches where obviously abused. Bhaaloo seemed to have recovered better from it then poor Amyrah she was so timid, terrified of men and scared of her own Shadow.

( poor Little Sad Amyrah before we rescued her ๐Ÿ˜ฆ )

As you guys might remember the fool who owned her prior had all his dogs chained to trees without shelter and often without food or water. At some point he put out one oil barrel for all four dogs that was never used by any of them because it had the tendency to roll down the hill and he never bothered to retrieve it.
(the Barrel ๐Ÿ˜ก )

Kay started feeding the pooches because we could not look at them every day and watch them suffer. Then I (Alex)organized dog houses for them as part of our give a pooch house program.

Two months went by where we had to watch the pooches miserable little lives, Amyrahโ€™s chain was far too big for her and she would drag it behind her like the ball and chain of death. She was terrified of it so she would move slowly because she hated the sound it made.
Then Mario was arrested and we deliberated long what could be done …As you know Bhaaloo went to live with Me (Alex) and Amyrah first moved into one of our outside pens.

Slowly she warmed up to Kay, but it was a very painful process. Poor Amyrah was terrified and any wrong move could send her to crawl into her doghouse ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

A few days before Halloween We decided to bring her into the house because there was talk of idiots targeting Pitbulls on Halloween and we did not want to take a chance that the little girl could get hurt.
Amyrah was so grateful and happy and she got on so well with Kay and Timโ€™s cats that they decided to keep her inside permanently. She has not been integrated into their pack yet but we are working on it ๐Ÿ™‚

(taking Walks is fun- Amyrah discovers the world beyond the chain )

(cuddling with Momma on the sofa )

(happy baby learns to Smile )

At this point she is trusting and stable enough that we can finally take her to our vet. The last 2 months however have depleted our veterinary budget and we are hoping that maybe some of you can help us with her upcoming vet bill she will need to get a full physical including heartworm test and her shots.
We are thinking everything will run around $150-200. If you could contribute toward this we would be more than thankful as you know we are not a non profit yet and 99% is coming out of our own pockets.
Her chip in is here >

Please help us protect the Mutanthouse Pooches from being poisoned!

Dear friends and supporters,
Here is a little update on what is happening right now at Mutanthouse.

We are currently having serious problems with some of our neighbours. These neighbours are targeting our dogs and we believe that Jubilee‘s illness, Lunaโ€™s death this year and Inaraโ€™s in 2009 are closely connected to their dealings. Our property is large and it is not always easy to detect possible poisoned or rotten food they throw over the fence before our pooches get to it. We desperately need to protect our animals and need to repair the fences and create a safe playground these people cannot breach. For this we want to seal off the middle part of the property with an 11 foot privacy fence, put in artificial turf so we can monitor and detect anything out of the ordinary. Right now our funds are totally maxed out, I (Alex) am funding the bulk of the project and my funds are going to run out in January.
So we would be happy for any help we can receive, if you have unwanted chain link and wooden privacy fences (6 feet or 11 feet high ) , we would be happy recipients , if you are able to donate funds to the cause there is a link here >
http://mutanthouseproject.chipin.com/please-help-us-protect-the-mutanthouse-pooches-from-being-poisoned

On a more positive note:

Little Wifi is doing really well he is going to the doctor on Friday to get his stitches removed and will get his next set of shots on the 30th. He is growing everyday and outgrowing his cloths seemingly every time we look at him ๐Ÿ˜‰ He is now able to regulate his own body temp. But we are still keeping him extra warm ๐Ÿ™‚

Little momma made the transition into the inside and is doing very well she also finally has her new name > Amyrah ๐Ÿ˜€ we will be barging her to the vet around the 30th for a general check-up , heartworm test ect; once we have the funds together.

Bhaaloo who as you see in all the videos is doing phenomenal, he and Zoe are inseparable and he is slowly learning to curb his energy somewhat. He will be going to the vet with Amyrah around the 30th for a check-up where he will be receiving his booster shots and will be checked for heart worms.

Our Moo who is heartworm positive ๐Ÿ˜ฆ will hopefully receive her treatment in January as soon as we can come up with the funds right now she is on slow treatment to at least minimise the damage.

Cassiopeia is now a full member of the Mew crew and has been fully accepted and has integrated well ๐Ÿ˜€ For a while she was very grumpy beating up on the boys who wanted to cuddle her, but she now gets along with everyone which warms our hearts ๐Ÿ™‚

In the next weeks our vet costs are going to rise again and we would be very thankful for any help any of you could give us. If you would like to donate to our veterinary fund to help us keep all our elderly and special needs dog vetted and up to date you can find it here >
http://mutanthouseproject.chipin.com/mutanthouse-veterinary-fund

Or to little WiFiโ€™s recovery fund >
http://mutanthouseproject.chipin.com/help-wifi-the-puppy

We are thankful for any donation no matter how small…

If you cannot donate please pass this on…

If you have unwanted items you would like to donate to us we would be very thankful We need Dog and cat food, blankets toys, treats, cat little , scratch trees , building material , dog houses, fencing and netting , dog and cat care products are always very welcome and thankfully accepted. There are a lot of backyard dogs with no shelter in this neighbourhood so doghouses will provide them with better living conditions.

Mutanthouse Furry Residents 4 your viewing pleasure ;)

State Of The Nation 1

Zoe and Bhaaloo and a little bit of Siegfried and Roy 2

We here at Mutanthouse are really happy to see how Zoe and Bhaaloo are getting along they have become fast Friends and are inseparable.

Today they went to the vet together to be Spayed and Neutered.

In a Perfect World we could let all doggies have babies, but our world is far from perfect and too many pooches and kittehs die unwanted in shelters. This is why furry Mutanthouse residents are either spayed or neutered; we do not want to contribute to the Shelter suffering and the millions of deaths year.
As I (Alex) type My babies and Siegfried and Roy are at Sheetz pet clinic and all have gone through the procedure.

We will be picking them up shortly. While we wait I thought I would leave you with a treat another video of Zoe and Bhaaloo ๐Ÿ˜€

Meet Bhaaloo :D

Mario the guy who was breeding Pitbulls next to Mutanthouse was arrested. His pregnant girl friend is now moving and all the poor pitties needed to be rehomed. I adopted their 6 month old Male who was named Bhaaloo after Kiplingโ€™s sloth bear from the jungle book.

Here he is playing with his new sister Zoe for the first time ๐Ÿ˜€

Like Zoe his is very vocal which got him the nickname Squeals or Squealy so he and Zoe are now Squeals and Screams ๐Ÿ˜‰
Now Zoe has someone to share her high energy needs they are perfect for each other ๐Ÿ™‚
