A little Help from our friends?

Dear friends and Supporters ❤

As most of you know what we do for the pooches and kitteh’s at Mutanthouse and those in the neighborhood comes out of our own pockets. Now we do get food donations for our animals (thank GOD and our Fairy DOGmother you know who you are) that help immensely but because we have a load of seniors and special needs pooches our vet bill is always up there. This year we have a especially aggressive flea season we tried to combat it with natural means such diatomaceous earth but it has failed miserably and we now have to roll in the big guns.

Without taking any of our normal vet costs in account the treatment for all our animals for fleas and ticks  runs at 600$ a month . If we include heart worm treatments for everyone and all the other standard cost we are up to about 1000$ a month in vet costs alone. This does not include the stocking up on wound dressings, antibiotics and other medications for emergencies and the fools living around us who refuse to vet their animals.

Right now money is really tight right now at Mutanthouse,  because we had so many unexpected costs in saving Titine and trying to save Little Captain Jack Sparrow, and we could really use some help from you guys. The few donations that we have gotten in the past really helped and any amount counts and makes a difference. So if you can Help Here is the link > https://www.wepay.com/donations/mutanthouse-support-fund

Physical donations like frontline for dogs and cats are also more than welcome and appreciated.

Thank you for your continued interest in our project.

Namaste

Alex ❤

State Of The Nation/Mutanthouse Update 2

Dear friends and supporters the Last month has been quite a ride. As you know we took in three new dogs. Kay and Tim took in Amyrah and I (Alex) took in Bhaaloo from the backyard breeder and dogfighter who lived next to us and thankfully got arrested, and little WiFi was rescued from a drug dealer Bhaaloo and Amyrah both have severe behaviour issues that we are working to resolve. Wifi is just a bundle of Joy!

(Amyrah)

Amyrah is beyond shy and terrified of men because her previous guardian beat his dogs. Kay has been working with her daily and it is slowly paying off. The little girl is coming out of her shell and now sometimes finds the courage to cuddle with her new dad Tim. We had a health scare with her thinking she might have distemper but it thankfully turned out to be a cold. Once again we faced a whopping vet bill but received help from donors (thank you so much) who cut it in half and our vet forfeited his own fee which made it doable considering it came out of Alex dwindling funds.

(Amyrah , with Kay and doctor Sink )

Our girl is now on antibiotics for her repertory infection, ointment for a rash on her flankand Benadryl for her allergies. She tested negative for heartworm which made us very happy; and we now have her on heartworm preventative to ensure it stays that way. We have a heartworm epidemic here in high point and we are not willing to take any risks. She is going to be spayed next week. Once again we would like to say thank you to all that have helped and supported us with this little lass 😀

(Bhaaloo)

Bhaaloo is friendly and outgoing but he is beyond hyperactive and very mouthy. His previous guardian was grooming him to fight so biting was encouraged. He needs a lot of attention and exercise because his enthusiasm has turned into aggression twice and we need to nip this behaviour in the bud. Our Zoe is a great help with that because they have become a natural match as you have seen in our videos.

(Zoe and Bhaaloo -one day my muddy prince will come 😛 Bhaaloo rolled in some unmentionable stuff but Zoe loves his new cologne 😛 )

The two love each other and Zoe who is loved by everyone who meets her (both animal and human) has the tendency to bring Bhaaloo’s best nature out of him.

(Zoe and Bhaaloo)

Still Bhaaloo needs more attention than I can do alone so Tim has been running him which seems to work really well. Eventually we want to get him on the treadmill because this boy make the energiser bunny look like a 80 year old couch potato 😛 Bhaaloo will need to go to the vet next month to be tested for heartworms if you want to help with his next vet bill or donate to our general veterinary fund here is the link >

Every penny is appreciated My (Alex) funds run out this month and I will not have anything until I find employment. With Kay’s health issues Tim is currently the only one working so we need all the help we can get.

(Wifi)

So now to little Wifi 😀
He is doing great growing like a weed. His injuries are fully healed and he is all round doing amazing. He got his second set of shots yesterday, and his first heartworm prevention pill.

Wifi is now 12 weeks old and 15 pounds heavy 🙂 He is such a blessing to have, very smart, calm in nature and very attentive. We think he might be a perfect candidate for a therapy dog if his temperament and demeanour remain the same. With my (Alex) MS he could eventually very well turn the tables and become the caregiver, if my condition worsens. We are also thinking of doing a sick child and elderly visitation program with him once he is grown and if he graduates from training 🙂 Since parvo is so prevalent in High point and the strains here so viciously deadly poor Wifi has not been out to play yet. Once he completes his last set of shots around January 1st we can wait to introduce him to the back yard. We think that Zoe and Moo will be the first to be allowed to play with him outside. Moo being his doggy foster mother will watch over him and Zoe is always up to playing when others are no fun 🙂

You guys might remember Siegfried and Roy. Roy was adopted into my (Alex) daughters house hold and is doing really well. Siggy had no such luck. He is a wonderful dog with People and submissive female dogs, but he fights everyone else. This is why we were unable to integrate hum in any of our three packs. We thought we had found a furever home with one of our friends and supporters T-ray from Atlanta. But unforeseen issues made it impossible for her to take him and the poor pooch has nowhere to go 😦 He deserves so much better than living isolated and alone so we are looking for a furever home for him or foster. He is a wonderful dog and as I said earlier he loves people but has issues with other dogs and cats. So it would be best that he find a home where he is the only pet. He is approximately 1.5 years old Neutered and up-to-date on his rabies. He needs a person who can devote a lot of time and energy to him, he is active and playful. If you are interested or can help please let us know.

Zoe and Bhaaloo and a little bit of Siegfried and Roy 2

We here at Mutanthouse are really happy to see how Zoe and Bhaaloo are getting along they have become fast Friends and are inseparable.

Today they went to the vet together to be Spayed and Neutered.

In a Perfect World we could let all doggies have babies, but our world is far from perfect and too many pooches and kittehs die unwanted in shelters. This is why furry Mutanthouse residents are either spayed or neutered; we do not want to contribute to the Shelter suffering and the millions of deaths year.
As I (Alex) type My babies and Siegfried and Roy are at Sheetz pet clinic and all have gone through the procedure.

We will be picking them up shortly. While we wait I thought I would leave you with a treat another video of Zoe and Bhaaloo 😀

Building a Kennel For Siegfried and Roy

As many of you know We took in Siegfried and Roy because Their former home we returned them to gave them to Crack addicts who where beating them and chained them to trees without shelter. We could not leave them there so we decided to give them permanent refuge at Mutanthouse despite the current space issues.

Once we have built some of our houses there will be ample room but right now we had no idea where to put the boys so they had to live in a car for a few days until we got material together to build them a temporary kennel.

We were Lucky and received large panels as donations from Sue Rogers from RuffLove rescue (http://www.facebook.com/ruffloverescue) and four smaller ones from our Neighbour and friend Jimmy. Thank you so much you too YOU ROCK!

With our Donated Panels we are ready to Build a home for the boys 😀

Oh I also forgot Sue gave us these dog houses too 😀

So first we sorted out the Pieces and I (ALex) worked a while on fixing holes and repariong what ever need mending.

The Little one will work as Temporary Devider in the Kennel because the boys are having some Puberty issues which we hope will resolve them self once they are Neutered.

The door had some issues so I (Alex) mended it with Wire two oven panels and string 😀 yay

Maybe not to pretty but rock Solid and safe 😉

Once everything was fixed Kay and I (Alex) started building the Kennel

hen TIm Started Weed Wacking in the Kennel

Well he tried but Jimmy’s Weed Wacker has a mind of its own

So Jimmy came to help

After a Little While …

Of Trial and Error

Jimmy got it to work and he did it for us …

There we go 😀

Then Kay and Tim

Put up the tarp roof

Tim has the Tarp Covered

Then Kay and I worked till night to finish up.The pictured are a little dark i will make some new ones tomorrow.

Kay feeding Siegfried ..Roy is with Morgaine at the Beach …

Siegfried seems to like it 😀

I will update some new pix tomorrow 🙂

Pooch freedom and play Haven for the Mutanthouse MutMuts :D

We have a huge back yard for the Mutanthouse Pooches to run in the problem is that the fences are to low and we have some fence jumpers. We would really like to build up the fences and turn the full back yard into a pooch paradise. With playground and all 😀

Here are some ideas we found online of things we might like to build for them:

If you would like to contribute to this project there are several things you can do –

Donate building material – we need:

Wood – planks, poles, fencing, lattice, Doors, posts, pillars
Chain link fencing
Red or/and black bricks
Stone or concrete tiles
Citronella plants to keep away bugs
Bamboo plants to keep out nosy Neighbors
Chicken wire
Dog doors
Dog houses
Cedar shavings

Or you can donate you time and help build it 😀

Please contact me via message on our Facebook page if you are considering these options:

Animal residents of the Mutant house Project

At this current time my Dog’s and I are the only residents of the Mutanthouse project, in time and once more living space becomes liveable, I am hoping to open it to artists and families who need or want a fresh start, as well as domestic violence  survivors who want to  turn a new leaf. The final goal is to build a solid community that is willing to change the world around them, though action art and by being a living example how balanced living can function in an imperfect world. By offering community services, such as a vegan soup kitchen, community garden and helping people get off the grid; I also hope to improve the life quality of the impoverished neighbourhood and town I reside in. In the long run maybe even engage in worldwide projects, such as helping other create their own sustainable communities and projects, and occasional trips into disaster areas to help people rebuild.

Mutanthouse is however not only supposed to be a refuge for humans but also for the animal population. I would like to transform a portion of the property into a Dog playground and sanctuary for the existing rescue dogs living here, as well as further additions in the future. A cat garden with little cat houses is planned for the multitude of stray cats of my neighbourhood, who live sad and desperate lives. Once the cat garden is set up I am hoping to get funds together to spay and neuter the strays and to get them the medical attention they need. Most of them are born and bred outside and extremely feral, so a beautiful cat garden with climate controlled sleeping houses and regular food would be the best option for them. But that is all in the Future, The current Animal residents are mostly older dogs, dogs with behavioural problems and seniors. From some of my other posts you might know that I have been out of work for the last two years and keeping this roof over our head has been a struggle, if it were not for help from amazing people, like Sue Rogers from Ruff love rescue we would have been in dire straits a long time ago.

Quantum physics tell us that in many ways we create our reality with our mindset so I would like to see our struggles as part of our past but give t no power in the now and in our future. In the now the Animal residents of Mutant house are eight dogs of varying age. Who I would like to introduce here:

Luna my oldest came with me to the United States from Berlin. She is 10yesrs old and a peaceful gentile soul, who has fostered many puppies and kittens as her own. Luna was rescued in 2001 when she and her siblings where left to starve to death on the property of her mother’s owner. At the time my vet and I got him to give the puppies to us and I decided to keep Luna.

Romeo and April moon flower Aka (moo) are bull mastiff chow mixes, If you did not know it you would never think they where siblings. Romeo is very friendly and outgoing; his sister is a lovable mess with some fear aggression tendencies that she exhibits mostly towards men. Once she gets to know and trust people she is very caring and timid, but fear aggression did not make her a good candidate to be adopted.  Romeo had been adopted out but was returned to me because the new family decided that he was going to be too big and was going to end up on a chain. Once returned he looked so happy to be back home I never had the heart to adopt him out, both Romeo and Moo are eight years old.

Shadow and her sister summer were left in my care for what was supposed to be a two week vacation trip of her owner. In the end the owner  never picked them up , after four weeks I called her and she  told me she had decided to give them up , she worded it exactly so . Not one minute did she ask or inform me of these plans -some people are just incredible 😛  Summer stayed with me for 3 years and then found a great forever home through Ruff love Rescue. Shadow stayed with me because she has some behavioural issues. She is too smart for her own good, knows how to open the fridge, kitchen cabinets and the like, she gets along with other dogs but occasionally picks fights over food. She also has a strong preference for women and does not like children, while these traits are manageable for me, combined with her black colouring it makes her an unlikely candidate for adoption; Shadow is six years old.

Lucky is Romeos son with Shadows Sister Summer. Summer-yup my fault entirely because I had not yet spayed and neutered either of them and my boyfriend of the time thought it was funny to let them breed. Ditched the boyfriend kept the dog 😛 …Lucky is a sweet, friendly, most generously loving dog and it is a tragedy that he did not adopted out like his siblings . Mostly it is attributed to his colouring; sadly people generally do not want black dogs 😦 Lucky is 5 years old

Summer and Moo where in heat at the same time and the day my ex let Romeo into the room where I kept the girls both of them where knocked up.  The whole situation at the time was volatile with my ex, and  domestic violence  was prominent during that time of my life , he had control over my finances, my life and in many parts my freedom –  and I at the time was to weak to protest.  I guess you live and you learn I am no longer that woman, and the stronger me has evolved into a strong advocate of spaying and neutering. Considering all the poor unwanted animals living amongst us it is for now the only responsible choice.

Well back to the puppies, Romeo knocked Moo up as well thankfully though she birthed only two children Moobert Oi and Mooria Georgina. Both were born premature and needed a lot of care, both have some behaviour issues that make them unlikely candidates for adoption. Mooria is extremely dominant and needs to be supervised with other dogs; Moobert Oi has severe anxiety, but is otherwise sweet and friendly. Still they will need special surroundings and care for the rest of their life and would probably be put down anywhere else.  Both Moobert and Mooria are five years old.

When I left Paul I took my dogs with me and was at full capacity Animal wise, but there was this little pit-bull 2 month old left on a chain in the full NC, heat, no water no shelter, she was dying and I couldn’t just walk away and do nothing. I talked to her owner and he told me well why you don’t get her water I just don’t have the time , I couldn’t leave he  there that is how Jubilee became part of my family , and the entity taking most of the room in my bed. Jubilee is the sweetest thing; guess she did not read her job description as Pittbull 😉 Jubilee is three and half years old.

None of my Dogs are up for adoption we have been family for too long, I do not consider myself their owner either, I am their guardian, in many ways their Alpha and mother. When I call people owners it is more of a derogatory stamen reserved for those who treat their animals like property. My animals are family and Mutanthouse is just as much, If not more, for them as for me.  And my house transforms I will be transformed and maybe  find healing in the process, and when others come  they will hopefully  find it a place to rest a while , or longer and find  the balance that we as a spices  so direly lack .
